Buttons: A 5-Second Project

Every couple months the folks over at Greyscale Gorilla do a little thing called The 5-Second Project.

The idea is simple: make a 5 second animation, explore some new techniques, interpret the theme literally, figuratively, loosely.

The current 5-Second Project’s theme is “Buttons” and here’s what we made.

The music was created in ButtonBass, which seemed theme-appropriate. Except for the sound effects, which are me dropping actual buttons on a plate.

The Standbys, a NY Times Critics’ Pick – NYC Theatrical Run

The Standbys, a documentary feature from director Stephanie Riggs for which we had the privilege of designing and animating the titles and graphics, opens February 21, 2014 for a New York City Theatrical Run at the Quad Cinema in Greenwich Village.

The Standbys follows a variety of undiscovered performers for several years through their ups and downs, struggles and triumphs, onstage performances and private lives.

The film is a New York Times Critic’s Pick.

You can view a clip of the film’s open, including our main title design, in the portfolio here.

ADFF Opening Slate

We were recently hired by Beat Media Group to develop the motion graphic elements for the main titles for the Architecture & Design Film Festival.

The animated elements are based upon Obek Design’s beautiful work for the web and print material, and were incorporated with festival film clips in collaboration with director Stephanie Riggs of Beat.

The festival began in New York City October 16-20, 2013 and continues with programs in Chicago in and Los Angeles this coming Spring.

The bumper, which plays before each program in the festival, is up in the portfolio.
